Extended Workshops

Discipline with Love = Positive Discipline

Do you find yourself getting frustrated with your children or giving in to their demands?

Have you had to deal with embarrassing temper tantrums?

As children grow, they push the boundaries. They test their parents, child care providers and teachers. From toddling away when we say stop, to throwing a temper tantrum in the grocery aisle when we say no to a sugary treat. These are tests. Our children want to know if we keep our word.

How we respond is key. Discipline can be one of the toughest aspects of parenting, but it’s also one of the most important parts.

In this 90-minute session presented by Parent Assistant Resource (PAR), you will:

  • Evaluate the difference between punishment and discipline.
  • Learn strategies to discipline with love, without threats and bribes.
  • Discover how to keep peace in your home through the power of the logical consequence approach.
  • Practice positive discipline and encouragement strategies for positive directing of misbehavior.
  • Learn how to establish age-appropriate expectations for behavior and consequences.

These sessions are presented by Edwina Neely, teacher, speaker and trainer and author of Children are Gifts: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Gifted, Confident, Happy Children. Recommended for families of elementary, middle, and high school students.

The Language of Healing: Positive Communication

Parents have an incredible opportunity and privilege to nurture the wonderful gifts of our children.

Strong connections happen when parents communicate intentionally, accept differences and the uniqueness of their children and set clear expectations. We need to strive to speak words that heal and not hurt even when they have done something wrong. Communicating with your child is so important and what you say will be etched on their brain for a long time. With this unconditional love, the child will recognize their giftedness and be confident in their abilities. Parenting is a journey and it takes work, but it is the most important job you will ever have!

In this 90-minute session presented by Parent Assistant Resource (PAR), you will:

  • Practice activities to illustrate the power of words.
  • Learn how the words we speak become “life commandments“ and enhance communication and to promote positive communication will be discussed.
  • Explore communication skills that develop the “Language of Healing” and how to use words that heal.
  • How to talk to your child so they listen and how to listen so your child will talk.

These sessions are presented by Edwina Neely, teacher, speaker and trainer and author of Children are Gifts: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Gifted, Confident, Happy Children. Recommended for families of elementary, middle, and high school students.

The Gift of Essence: Spiritual Gifts

Our children are our gifts.

The greatest gift you can give your child is not riches, but revealing to them their own giftedness.

We are here for a purpose. Your child has been prepackaged. God has selected the temperament, the character texture, the yarn of their personality, all before they were born. God didn’t drop your baby into your arms utterly defenseless and empty handed. Your baby arrived fully equipped.

Understanding spiritual gifts gives you profound insights into the behaviors and characteristics of your children.

This workshop provides an in-depth study of a child’s “essence,” who they are to be.

In this 90-minute session presented by Parent Assistant Resource (PAR), you will:

  • Study the Spiritual Gifts from Romans 12.
  • Participate in a role playing exercises that clarify the characteristics.
  • Discover your “gift of essence”

These sessions are presented by Edwina Neely, teacher, speaker and trainer and author of Children are Gifts: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Gifted, Confident, Happy Children. Recommended for families of elementary, middle, and high school students.
